Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Indianapolis, Indiana, And Columbus Is The Capital Of Ohio
Last night Marvel was telling me that a friend of ours had gotten him a souvenir shot glass (ssfseiyakou, I know you won't see this until after the con, but I immediately thought of you) from Oklahoma, where she was on vacation. And I was like, "What the fuck is in Oklahoma?" but then we remembered that we think her husband is in boot camp there.

And it got me thinking, that in spite of my initial knee-jerk reaction, and the fact that I don't collect souvenir shot glasses, I was kind of curious to see if I had a friend in every state of the union. Because that would be neat.

Please note that this is what state do you live in now, not what states have you lived in over the course of your lives. Because I know some of you have moved all over the damn place. But let's pretend I wanted to collect a post card from each one of you and you had to send it out tomorrow (and let's pretend that you're all home, of course); what would the postmark say?

Tangentially, I tried to name all 50 states by myself. This is harder than it sounds, which I found out...oh, six years ago, maybe, when they showed the Friends Thanksgiving special (I think that's what it was) where they all try to name all 50 states, and even Ross can't do it...which made me try to do it, and I failed. I did better this time, I only missed Connecticut (which is inexcusable, because I have family--who I just hand-wrote invitations to the wedding to!--in Connecticut), Mississippi (which is inexcusable, that's like every little kid's favorite state to spell, and we used to have to spell it while waiting for the clock to count down to three and the end of the day way back in elementary school), and Nebraska (no excuse; there's just nothing at all that I can think of in Nebraska.)
